About Enrich
ENRICH was founded in 2001 as the Relaxed Homeschoolers group. A number of families felt their needs would be better served with a somewhat more structured group, and ENRICH was born. We are an inclusive network of families striving to provide support to each other in our homeschool journeys. Support is not, however, a spectator sport! All ENRICH members function as co-creators of our group and share the responsibility for making it a wonderful resource for all of us.
Activities:
ENRICH members enjoy a wide variety of activities planned by our members. Some of those activities include the following. Check our calendar for the most current information:
-
Park Day: A regularly scheduled park day for free play and social interaction (for parents as well as kids!). We meet every Wednesday beginning at 11 am at a local park, as long as it is not actively raining and the forecast is for a high of 50 degrees or greater. During the winter months, we meet at the shelter beside the barn at Frank Liske Park in Concord. From May through the beginning of September, we meet at the playground at Reedy Creek Park in Charlotte. This is a great opportunity to come out and meet us if you are considering joining our group.
-
Parent's Night Out (PNO): A regularly scheduled Parent’s Night Out for the adults in the group only (nursing infants welcome). This is held the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm at Jackson’s Java coffeehouse near UNCC. This gives us a chance to enjoy some adult conversation and relax together.
-
Field Trips: Our members regularly plan field trips that are open to ENRICH members (and sometimes others). Members are encouraged to plan field trips that meet the needs of their families and invite other interested families along. In the past some field trips have been to Blue Planet, an Asian restaurant, Johnson and Wales, the biology labs at UNCC, the post office, homeschool days at local historic sites and more. The options are limited only by your imagination and willingness to organize.
-
Annual Recognition Ceremony: An Annual Recognition Ceremony is held late each spring to offer families a chance to give their children public recognition for their homeschooling efforts.
-
We have regularly held a science fair and an art exhibit at the local public library. Holiday parties are also popular. Activities such as these continue to grow and change in response to the needs of our members. New options are constantly being explored.
