OPEN TO ALL HOMESCHOOLERS---
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR BOYS/GIRLS CLUB OF CABARRUS COUNTY HOME SCHOOL ACTIVITIES FOR 2008-09
The Boys & Girls Club of Cabarrus County will be opening its doors to local home schoolers for the fifth straight school year. Starting September 11, the Club will host its Home School Days program.
The program will be available to children 5-14 yrs. Old (must be 5 yrs. Before Oct. 16). Children will be divided into three groups based on their age and each group will rotate around the facility’s activity rooms over a two-hour time frame. Depending on the age group, activities may include phys. ed., arts & crafts, life skills, performing arts, academic activities, and game room activities.
Home School Days will be held the second Thursday of every month from September through April, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
ALL activities will be led by Boys & Girls Club staff, who will be assisted by select home school parents.
Friday September 12, 2008
Start: 1:00 pm
End: 3:00 pm
Inner Peaks Homeschool Day will be the second Friday of each month.
Dates:
Sept 12
Oct 10
Nov 14
Dec 12
Jan 9
Feb 13
March 13
April 10
May 8
Check-in is from 1-3 to get the discount, but families are welcome to
stay as long as they like after they check in.
The cost will be $10, which will include a day pass for the child, a
harness for the child and a harness for the supervising adult. This
is $9 off the regular price, for a savings of almost 50%.
Adults and older teens may also climb for the $10 fee as long as they
are a member of a homeschooling family. There is no charge if you
only plan to belay.
There is a one time $5 fee if you need the gri-gri lesson, a quick 15
minute lesson on how to safely use the ropes in the gym. Supervising
adults must be safety certified. Either you can pass the belay test
if you already know how (no charge) or you can take the gri-gri
lesson (takes about 15 minutes) for a one time $5 fee. A climber must
be 12 or older to take the gri-gri lesson.
A parent can belay for more than one child, they just take turns.
With really young children this can be a problem, as the parent's
full attention needs to be on the child who is climbing. If the other
non-climbing child needs supervision as well, there will be safety
issues.
A person could bring another person's child, but be sure the parent
has filled out a waiver and sent it along. The waiver is available on
the Inner Peaks website.

If you need directions, go here
http://www.innerpeaks.com/directions.html. Inner Peaks is tricky to
find and not visible from Monroe Rd, so be sure you know where it is
before you set out.
