The
butterfly represents a symbol of transformation and hope in a child's
poem
written during the Holocaust. The San Diego Jewish Academy started
The
Butterfly Project. It has grown into a world-wide enterprise to create
1.5
million ceramic butterflies, to represent the children who died in
the
Holocaust.
Learn historical background from The Levine Jewish
Community Center, and
decorate a bisque-fired butterfly to be added to a
community wall in Shalom
Park. Join this special opportunity to honor the
youngest Holocaust victims.
In conjunction with From the Melting Pot into the
Fire: Contemporary
Ceramics in Israel.
In partnership with the Levine
Jewish Community Center
Mint Museum of Craft + Design: 220 N. Tryon
Street, Charlotte.
