The Butterfly Project Sunday, April 19, 2 & 3 p.m. at the Mint Museum of Craft + Design Free but pre-registration requested. <mailto:karen.vidamo@ mintmuseum. org> E-mail (Karen.vidamo@ mintmuseum. org) or call Karen Vidamo at 704/337-2098 for information or to register. The butterfly represents a symbol of transformation and hope in a child's poem written during the Holocaust. The San Diego Jewish Academy started The Butterfly Project. It has grown into a world-wide enterprise to create 1.5 million ceramic butterflies, to represent the children who died in the Holocaust. Learn historical background from The Levine Jewish Community Center, and decorate a bisque-fired butterfly to be added to a community wall in Shalom Park. Join this special opportunity to honor the youngest Holocaust victims. In conjunction with From the Melting Pot into the Fire: Contemporary Ceramics in Israel. In partnership with the Levine Jewish Community Center Mint Museum of Craft + Design: 220 N. Tryon Street, Charlotte.
