Central Piedmont Community College presents ArtsFest at CPCC A Celebration of the Creative Arts April 20-25, 2009 Mission ArtsFest at Central Piedmont Community College is an annual celebration of arts and culture to enrich and engage the community. Vision To cultivate an annual arts festival incorporating literature, film, visual and performing arts, music, history, and culture in order to promote college programs and to present regional artists and scholars. MNS Homeschoolers Earth Day 2009 Information regarding the event:   Company:  Duke Energy Corporation Location of Event:  McGuire’s EnergyExplorium (EE) Name of Event:  MNS Homeschoolers Earth Day 2009 Date:  Wednesday, April 22 Time:   10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Contact:  Terry Lanham Contact Phone:  704-875-5600 Contact E-mail:  talanham@duke-energy.com   Details:   Please join us for our first ever MNS Homeschoolers Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, at McGuire Nuclear Station’s EnergyExplorium from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.   This special day will include a visit from My Animal Guy, environmental educational sessions, a hands-on potted-plant station, guided Nature Trail walks by environmental educators and other outdoor activities.  Each child will truly understand the importance of Earth Day after this fun-filled event.  Environment worksheets, EnergyExplorium activity books and parent/teacher guides will also be provided as take home material for each family, providing an excellent framework for teaching and learning even after the event concludes.  The morning and afternoon activities, including the My Animal Guy animal presentations, will be identical, giving everyone the opportunity to benefit from similar programs.   At Duke Energy, we recognize the importance of your child’s education. We also recognize as parents of a home-schooled child, your family deserves every tool and resource to encourage higher learning.   The EnergyExplorium at McGuire Nuclear Station, located in Huntersville, would like to offer a helping hand in expanding your child’s knowledge of nuclear energy, electricity and the environment. Go approximately four miles to the stoplight at McGuire Nuclear Station. Turn right into the plant entrance. Stay in right lane and follow signs to the EnergyExplorium.    From I-485 Take I-485 to Hwy.16 (exit 16).  West toward Newton. Exit east onto Hwy.73 toward Huntersville. Go approximately   five miles to the stoplight at McGuire Nuclear Station. Turn left into the plant entrance. Stay in right lane and follow signs to the EnergyExplorium.    (Please do not follow the directions provided by any digital mapping programs)

We meet every Wednesday for park day at various locations around Concord, Harrisburg, and Kannapolis.  We hang out and just relax with our kids and moms (and sometimes dads).   This months park has not been picked yet, so plese email ckirby1@carolina.rr.com for more information.

Our members plan a lot of field trips!  We invite you to see the list of activities that our members have provided in the past.  We would love to have you volunteer and organize trips that interest you!  The options are limited only by your imagination and willingness to organize.  Check out our calendar to see what we have scheduled for this year.
