Not Back to School Party - Dan Nicholas State Park

All homeschoolers are invited to join us for a day of fabulous fun at Dan Nicholas State Park.  For directions and information on the park, see:  http://www.dannicholas.net  ENRICH has reserved Shelter #6.  Bring a dish to share, drinks, and plates/utensils.  We will have an open grill.  Attendees may choose from a wide variety of activities at Dan Nicholas, with pricing as follows: Red Ticket:  includes one train ride, one carousel ride, and one gem bucket.  Cost $7 ($2 savings over a la cart pricing) Blue Ticket:  includes one train ride, one carousel ride, one gem bucket, and one game miniature golf.  Cost $8 ($3 savings over a la carte pricing) Additional activities not included in ticket prices are: Wild Adventure:  Ages 9 and under $.50  Ages 10+ $1.00 Petting Barn:  $.50 Paddle Boats $2.00  Please RSVP to joyous-song@carolina.rr.com, if you will be attending. Thought you all might be interested in the what's going on in the life of a former home-schooler. .. Please come to a dessert at our home on Wednesday, September 2, at 7 PM for Quentin Ruiz-Esparza, who is preparing to go to Thailand for a year to serve with International Justice Mission (www.ijm.org) . Quentin graduated in May from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We'd love for you to meet Quentin and learn about the heart and vision of IJM and Quentin's part in it. To quote from the IJM web site: International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local governments to ensure victim rescue, to prosecute perpetrators and to strengthen the community and civic factors that promote functioning public justice systems. Quentin will be working with a Thai team to establish citizenship rights and work towards preventing human trafficking. Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County Homeschool Days Program

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR BOYS/GIRLS CLUB OF CABARRUS COUNTY HOME SCHOOL ACTIVITIES FOR 2009-10 The Boys & Girls Club of Cabarrus County will be opening its doors to local home schoolers for the sixth straight school year. Starting September 17 the Club will host its monthly Home School Days program. The BG Club will wrap-up the program in May with its annual Field Day/Family Picnic! The program will be available to children 5-14 yrs. Old (must be 5 yrs. Before Oct. 16). Children will be divided into three groups based on their age and each group will rotate around the facility’s activity rooms over a two-hour time frame. Depending on the age group, activities may include phys. ed., arts & crafts, life skills, performing arts, academic activities, and game room activities. Cost is $4 per session or $20 for the full year. Home School Days will be held the third Thursday of every month from September through May, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EXCEPT for March, when it will be held the 4th Thursday. ALL activities will be led by Boys & Girls Club staff, who will be assisted by select home school parents. Town Creek Indian Mound Field Trip
Start: 09/18/2009 10:00 pm
Arrive at 10:oo am program starts at 11:00 am.  The program lasts and hour and a half.  We can have lunch in our seating area.Town Creek Indian Mound Historic Site is located in Mt. Gilead North Carolina which is about an hour and 40 minutes east of Harrisburg.  We will be attending a Pow Wow to learn about the American Indian culture through singing, dancing and drumming.  Bring your lunch to the designated seating area around the circle.  You will also need a blanket to sit on. Park Days

Our members regularly plan park days for free play and social interaction (for parents as well as kids!).  Please check our calendar regularly for scheduled park days.
