A monthly club for boys and girls ages 6-8where kids can work together to solve problems. The book I plan to use is Team Challenges: 170+ Group Activities to Build Cooperation, Communication, and Creativity by Kris Bordessa. http://www.amazon.com/Team-Challenges-Activities-Cooperation-Communication/dp/1569762015/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1250379025&sr=8-1
We’ll do activities that require kids to work together in new ways. There are building challenges, talking challenges, physical challenges, and more. Awaiting info regarding actual start and end times. For some reason, when "All day" is checked, arbitrary times show up. Because of that, I had to guess until I get a response to my inquiry. -- Adael

Mark your calendars for the biggest and best yard sale of the year. It's at First Baptist Church of Huntersville on September 26th.
This sale makes 45,000 to 50,000 each year and every penny is given to
fight world hunger. I don't go to this church but I have gone to this
sale for years and it is not to be missed.
This well organized sale covers about 4 acres of land and includes
areas for childrens, mens and womens clothes, furniture, sporting
goods, electronics, outdoor tools and plants, toys, media, linens,
kitchen and home decor. There are also barbque and bake sale
goodies in the church gym. Bring a cart/wagon, cash, lots of water and
NO KIDS. This sale takes at least 3 hours to thoroughly explore which
is maddening for kids and the moms who have to deal with them. Plus it
is easy to lose little ones in the crowd of over 200 shoppers.

CALL UP THE MILITIA!
MUSTER DAY AT PRESIDENT POLK HISTORIC
SITE
Pack a picnic lunch, throw in some ear plugs, and head to the President
James K. Polk State Historic Site for a day on the frontier at a “militia
muster” living history program on Sept. 26. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
visitors will see period-costumed interpreters demonstrating military drills
and practices, camp life, and cleaning and shooting rifles.
“We’ll burn some black powder firing the muskets, so
visitors should be ready for some noise,” said Site Manager Scott Warren.
“This is a great way for kids and parents to learn about a war that
doesn’t get much attention.”
Muster Day is the only demonstration of its type that will be held at
President Polk Historic Site in 2009.
President Polk acquired more land for America than any other U.S. leader except Thomas Jefferson.
The site is located approximately 1.5 miles south of Pineville off exit
65 B, I-485, at 12031 Lancaster Highway in Pineville, N.C. For more
information call (704) 889-7145, e-mail polk@ncdcr.gov
or visit http://www.nchistor icsites.org/ polk/polk. htm.
President James K. Polk State Historic Site is one of 27
sites in the Division of State Historic Sites, part of the N.C. Department of
Cultural Resources, the state agency dedicated to the promotion and protection
of North Carolina’s arts, history, and culture. For more
