Awaiting info regarding actual start and end times.  For some reason, when "All day" is checked, arbitrary times show up.  Because of that, I had to guess until I get a response to my inquiry. -- Adael   **********************************************   Mark your calendars for the biggest and best yard sale of the year.  It's at First Baptist Church of Huntersville on September 26th.  This sale makes 45,000 to 50,000 each year and every penny is given to fight world hunger.  I don't go to this church but I have gone to this sale for years and it is not to be missed. This well organized sale covers about 4 acres of land and includes areas for childrens, mens and womens clothes, furniture, sporting goods, electronics, outdoor tools and plants, toys, media, linens, kitchen and home decor.  There are also barbque and bake sale goodies in the church gym.  Bring a cart/wagon, cash, lots of water and NO KIDS.  This sale takes at least 3 hours to thoroughly explore which is maddening for kids and the moms who have to deal with them.  Plus it is easy to lose little ones in the crowd of over 200 shoppers.    http://www.fbc-h.org/  Check this link (scroll down and click on World Hunger) for photos and details.

CALL UP THE MILITIA! MUSTER DAY AT PRESIDENT POLK HISTORIC SITE    Pack a picnic lunch, throw in some ear plugs, and head to the President James K. Polk State Historic Site for a day on the frontier at a “militia muster” living history program on Sept. 26. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors will see period-costumed interpreters demonstrating military drills and practices, camp life, and cleaning and shooting rifles.    “We’ll burn some black powder firing the muskets, so visitors should be ready for some noise,” said Site Manager Scott Warren. “This is a great way for kids and parents to learn about a war that doesn’t get much attention.”   Muster Day is the only demonstration of its type that will be held at President Polk Historic Site in 2009.    President Polk acquired more land for America than any other U.S. leader except Thomas Jefferson.   The site is located approximately 1.5 miles south of Pineville off exit 65 B, I-485, at 12031 Lancaster Highway in Pineville, N.C.  For more information call (704) 889-7145, e-mail polk@ncdcr.gov or visit http://www.nchistor icsites.org/ polk/polk. htm.   President James K. Polk State Historic Site is one of 27 sites in the Division of State Historic Sites, part of the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources, the state agency dedicated to the promotion and protection of North Carolina’s arts, history, and culture.  For more information, visit www.ncculture. com.
